The Tempe Veterans Foundation is a qualified 501(c)3 tax exempt organization under the IRS code and a corporation in good standing in the State of Arizona. The Foundation currently has three main projects or programs for which it is responsible: 1. Veterans Memorial in Tempe 2. Boots For Our Troops 3. The Healing Field – a 9-11 memorial According to David Lucier, the President and CEO of newly formed, Tempe Veterans Foundation, “It’s an idea whose time had arrived.” “There were several veterans programs and projects that were in danger of going out of existence because of their lack of funds or because there was a limited number of volunteers who could sustain these activities for future generations,” Lucier said. Late last year, City of Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman and Mr. Lucier began collaborating on some community issues and found that several had a number of common concerns and problems. “After a couple of impromptu meetings, it became apparent that a more comprehensive approach to some of the veterans’ issues was needed,” said Hallman, “It was a bit like piecing together a puzzle.” “I am honored and proud to be able to give something back to the men and women who have selflessly sacrificed throughout our country’s history.” The result of their efforts is the Tempe Veterans Foundation.
